The National Basketball League of Canada is, as its name suggests, a Canadian basketball league that was born in 2011 and which takes place in the different cities of Canada. Seven teams compete in this competition during the first season. Indeed, there are three teams from the Premier Basketball League (PBL) among which The Halifax Rainmen, the Kebekwa from Quebec City and the Mil Rats from Saint-Jean. The latter therefore joined four Canadian teams in the competition, which were created especially for the occasion in order to form the seven basic teams of the NBL: the Moncton Miracles, the Oshawa Power, the Summerside Storm and the London Lightning. In 2012, during the second season of the competition, the Quebec Kebekwa disappeared and were replaced by two new newly created teams: the Windsor Express and the Montreal Jazz. The teams to compete for the victory are then eight in number.

The NBL season begins with training camps at the end of September. Following the training sessions, a series of exhibition matches is organized. Then we have to wait until the first week of November to see the start of the regular season. During the latter, each of the teams that make up the league plays 40 matches, including 20 at home and 20 away. The playoffs in which the top five teams compete then take place at the end of March. In these five teams, we find the top two in each division, but also the team that managed to make the best record behind these four teams.

Prognosis

The team that has stood out the most since the launch of the competition is the London Lightning! Indeed, the team based in London, Ontario, distinguished itself during the 2011-2012 season by winning the Halifax Rainmen with a score of 3-2. The team continues the record during the 2012-2013 season by facing the Summerside Storm. They come away winners of the meeting with a score of 3-1. Only, for the past two years, the London Lightning have made a pale face next to the Windsor Express team which has managed to win the competition twice in a row. Indeed, they illustrated themselves against the Summerside Storm in 2014, then against the Halifax Rainmen in 2015. Thus, for the 2016 season, the two favorites for the titles are, of course, the London Lightning and the Windsor Express. So, will the latter manage to make a hat-trick?
