There Major League Soccer resumes this weekend and we already have a great poster between the two best Canadian teams: the Montreal Impact receives the Toronto FC!
The offseason has been rather hectic on the Montreal side. The coach Thierry Henry has notably submitted his resignation for family reasons. It is Wilfried Nancy who will be in charge of replacing him and doing better than last season: having finished 9th in the Eastern Conference, the Impact narrowly qualified for the play-offs before being eliminated in the knockout stages by Orlando City SC.
Another decision also stirred up the club's news. By deciding to change its name and transform the Montreal Impact into the Montreal Football Club, the management attracted the wrath of the fans, who have been calling for a comeback ever since.
It's also time for a change in Toronto. Greg Vanney, the most successful coach in the club's history, has been replaced by Chris Armas. It must be said that last season was rather disappointing for the winner of the MLS 2017. Despite a second place clinched during the regular season, the Canadians were eliminated in the knockout stages against New York City FC.
Toronto FC is therefore determined to move forward again and will no doubt want to strike hard from the start against the great rival. We also advise you to bet on a Toronto FC victory: the team seems superior to that of the Impact in terms of experience (Ciman, Altidore, Bradley) and has made a habit of imposing itself on the Montreal field in recent years.
