A player steals chips at the El Cortez Casino

The news item took place on a table of craps in the El Cortez Casino which is located in downtown Las Vegas. One of the players present around the table has stolen chips, the value of which exceeds the 19 000 $.

The events took place on the morning of tuesday, September 6, 2023. While the dealer was leading the game table as usual, the individual threw himself flat on his stomach on the table and stole the chips that were near the dealer. He subsequently headed for the exit and is still on the run since. Authorities do not believe he was armed at the time.

Unfortunately, the thief was able to get out of the El Cortez Hotel & Casino without any problems, because the staff members are not in charge of the security of the casino.

Although the stolen chips have a total value of more than $19,000, the player won't be able to do anything with it as long as he doesn't exchange them. The tokens do not have no value before being cashed out at the El Cortez Hotel & Casino.

The surveillance cameras filmed the whole scene and the player's face is recognizable . He will therefore never be able to come and cash his chips or enter the establishment without being arrested. They do the same research when a person visits the establishment several times in a row with smaller quantities.

Unfortunately, the authorities will not be able to trace the tokens thanks to with RFID chips, because the establishment does not yet use this technology.

After this incident, it is certain that the casino will put more security in place so that this does not happen again.
