Ex-Premier League player wins at casino with stolen card

You've probably never heard of Blair Turgott , a 23-year-old winger who played under the colors of West Ham United. It must be said that this one has not particularly distinguished himself in the elite of English soccer: owned by the London club in 2013-2014, he has never really had the opportunity to demonstrate his talent on the field.

However, Blair Turgott does not let himself be discouraged and now plays three tiers lower: in the National League, under the colors of Maidstone United where he is on loan until the end of the season.

Also at the casino, Blair Turgott is full of resources, leaving during his last trip with 16,900 pounds , small catch nevertheless, the money wagered did not belong to him...

A talented player on the tables

The least we can say is that we are dealing with a winner! Blair Turgott is, indeed, out of the casino with 900 pounds of earnings in one evening, which is not nothing for a recreational player.

The winger showed up with £16,000 in cash at the "Playboy Club," a casino in central London, after making two withdrawals of £8,000 from a nearby ATM. He then exchanged his money for chips and sat down, accumulating a nice win on slot machines and blackjack.

At the end of the evening, the player returned home with a nest egg of £16,900...

A well-honed scam

Earlier, an 85-year-old pensioner, Peter Dixon, is contacted by a man posing as an employee of his bank. The latter announces to him that he needs to change his bank card, then proposing to send a courier to pick up the old card at Peter Dixon's home. Reckless, the pensioner accepts and hands over his card without flinching when a man, aged in his twenties, shows up at his house.

After several days without news, Peter Dixon's wife, suspicious, advises him to contact his bank: obviously, it denies using such practices and assures having nothing to do with the man who contacted Mr Dixon before. The damage is done: the £16,000 has already disappeared from the pensioner's account.

The judgment is in progress

Judged by the Southwark Crown Court , Blair Turgott is accused of fraud and concealment of property obtained in a criminal way. In his defense, the soccer player assures that he has he himself was abused by the thief of Peter Dixon's credit card: a casino companion of Blair Turgott, named Ali.

According to Turgott, Ali was indebted to him after the latter lent him a hand in the development of a real estate development project in Uganda. Ali would have met Blair Turgott, near the London casino, then handing him the bank card and the code, while assuring him that it came from one of his friends. The card was therefore, according to the man, to be used to repay the debt owed to the soccer player.

Ali would even have shown Blair Turgott excerpts of a conversation on Whatsapp with the alleged owner of the bank card, thus deceiving the soccer player in order to redeem himself.

Peter Dixon admitted to having been particularly naive in getting rid of his card so easily. The pensioner hoped to bequeath this money to his children.
